POSITION SUMMARY:  
The Development Accountant reports directly to the Senior Manager of Development Accounting and acts as a Business Partner to the Las Vegas Vertical Development Team. The position is responsible for collecting, compiling and analyzing moderately complex accounting data and information.  He/she will ensure actual costs/commitments do not exceed development budgets, work in e-Builder and JD Edwards to process invoices and manage the projects, as well as perform reconciliations and data entry in both systems. 
 
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • Process invoices, check requests, wire transfers for predevelopment and development projects in e-Builder and JD Edwards, ensuring adequacy all necessary supporting documents and proper accounting and job cost coding.
  • Reconcile invoice requests against approved commitments and ensure invoices are paid within limits of contract terms.
  • Enter general contractor and vendor commitments in e-Builder.
  • Data entry in e-Builder and JD Edwards.
  • Respond to inquiries from contractors, development and management regarding the status of vendor payments and commitments.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of job cost and fixed asset ledgers to general ledger and monthly job cost reports.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly job cost reports.
  • Acts as a liaison to the Corporate Accounts Payable and Accounting Departments.
  • Match and scan invoices and checks for monthly loan draws.
  • Maintain project files of invoices, commitments, contracts and journal entries within e-Builder and Dragonfly.
  • Special projects and other duties as needed.
 
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of staff accountant experience or 5-6 years of accounting assistant experience is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and related products.
  • Must exhibit strong organizational skills.
  • Must be deadline focused and exhibit problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Handle a dynamic work environment with competing priorities.
 
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Real estate industry and Real Estate Development or Project Cost accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards general ledger application.
  • Knowledge of e-Builder or other project management software
 
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business strongly preferred, or industry related experience.
