POSITION SUMMARY:  
Howard Hughes is looking for a financial analyst who will be responsible for applying General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports for the CMO office by compiling information, preparing profit and loss statements, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures. The CMO office is responsible for the management and deployment of all marketing capital across the portfolio and reports to the President, Chief Executive Officer and the Board.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • Ensure that Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is being adhered to for all financial reporting periods.
  • Assist with month-end close process, including preparation of account reconciliations, journal entries, and account analysis.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and develop real-time dashboards.
  • Assist with improving, implementing and documenting processes and internal control policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with Head office and Property Accountants to develop CMO quarterly reports/ CMO reviews and assist in year-end audit.
  • Perform variance analysis and timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Special projects and other duties as needed.
  • Provide analysis and financial insight to the CMO office
 
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • 0 - 2 years of accounting experience required.
  • Good understanding of Accounting processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and related products.
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards general ledger application.
  • Hyperion Enterprise and/or Hyperion Financial Management consolidation and reporting tools.
  • Real estate industry a plus.
  • Must be deadline focused, organized and exhibit problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, work with little supervision and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong technical writing skills.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
